Clinical significance of thiopentone binding to haemoglobin and plasma protein.

چکیده
The minimum dose of thiopentone required to induce anaesthesia was determined by giving thiopentone incrementally until verbal counting and eyelash reflexes were abolished. Males required 2.75 mg/kg (±0.11 SE) and females 2.16 mg/kg ( + 0.10 SE) to abolish verbal counting. Thiopentone requirement correlated positively with haemoglobin concentration (P<0.001) but not with plasma albumin, Ol globulin, total globulin or A/G ratio. The presence of sickle-cell haemoglobins did not influence thiopentone requirements. It is suggested that this result may have clinical importance.

tudy on sex steroid-binding proteins (with emphasize on 17 -estradiol) in plasma of female and juvenile kutum (Rutilus frisii kutum)
A sex steroid-binding protein (SBP) that binds to 17 b-estradiol with high affinity and moderate capacity was identified in the plasma of female and juvenile of kutum (Rutilus frisii kutum) sampled during the early stage of gonadal maturation in October and prior to spawning in March. Mean maximum specific binding (Bmax) and equilibrium dissociation constant (Kd) of the fish were as follows: In...
متن کاملPharmacokinetics of thiopentone enantiomers following intravenous injection or prolonged infusion of rac-thiopentone.
AIMS Thiopentone is administered as a racemate (rac-thiopentone) for induction of anaesthesia as well as for neurological and neurosurgical emergencies. The pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of rac-thiopentone have been extensively studied but the component R-(+)- and S-(-)- enantiomers, until very recently, have been largely ignored. METHODS The present study analyses the pharmacokinetic...
متن کاملEffect of anaesthesia with cyclopropane, halothane or thiopentone on the vascular compartment in sheep.
Measurements of the volume and protein content of the plasma, and the red cell and haemoglobin content, haematocrit and gas tension of the blood were made on normal, adult sheep during three consecutive 2-hour periods: control, anaesthesia and recovery. During the period of anaesthesia, cyclopropane, halothane or thiopentone was administered. Red cells were removed from the circulation during t...
متن کاملBiochemical characterization of PE_PGRS61 family protein of Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv reveals the binding ability to fibronectin
Objective(s): The periodic binding of protein expressed by Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv with the host cell receptor molecules i.e. fibronectin (Fn) is gaining significance because of its adhesive properties. The genome sequencing of M. tuberculosis H37Rv revealed that the proline-glutamic (PE) proteins contain polymorphic GC-rich repetitive sequences (PGRS) which have clinical importance i...
متن کاملINVESTIGATIONS ON THE DRUG-PROTEIN IN TERAC TION OF CERTAIN NEW POTENTIAL LOCAL ANAESTHETICS
Generally, plasma proteins owe their binding capacity to the presence of aminoacid units which enter into intra- and intermolecular hydrophobic bonding with a diverse range of endo- and exogenous chemical substances. The intermolecular interactions between the hydrophobic areas of drug molecules and those of plasma proteins play an important role in drug-macromolecular complex formation and...
